CompareMixrounds vs. Mix Revision

A revision checklist,
or the whole client job in one link.

Mix Revision turns client notes into a checklist inside your DAW, and does it well. Mixrounds covers the review too, then adds the contract, the round count, intake, invoicing and delivery, from $15 a month.

Where each fits

Two good tools, shaped
for different jobs.

MRmix revision is for

Engineers who want client notes inside the DAW.

If you live in Pro Tools, Logic or Reaper and want each note to jump the playhead to the right spot, Mix Revision's plugin and bounce-folder upload are built for exactly that. It's a good fit when contracts, invoices and briefs are already handled somewhere else.

mixrounds is for

Engineers running the whole client job in one place.

From the brief to the paid invoice: intake, the agreement, every round of review counted against it, extra rounds billed, final files delivered. One link for the client, one tool for you, at about half the price.

Deep dive

Where the checklist stops
and the client job starts.

MRWithout Mixrounds

The checklist doesn't know what you agreed.

Mix Revision keeps every version and turns notes into tasks, but nothing counts revision rounds against the deal. Whether round five was included or billable is a conversation you have to start yourself, with the contract stored somewhere else.

≈ Mix Revision + a contract PDF + a good memory
With Mixrounds

Rounds are tied to the contract, counted live.

The agreement sets the included rounds. Each approval or change request moves your counter, and past the limit you can bill the extra rounds in one step instead of doing them as a favor.

Mix Revision's in-DAW checklist is genuinely good; we don't have a plugin today.
MRWithout Mixrounds

The agreement lives in another app.

Scope, fee, rounds and who owns the masters get written in a doc, sent through a signing tool and filed in a folder, before the first mix goes out in the review tool.

With Mixrounds

Click-to-agree work-for-hire, in the same link.

A work-for-hire template shaped for engineers, agreed in the same client portal where they review the mix. Attached to the project, and its rounds drive the round counter.

Getting paid is a separate job.

Mix Revision lets you hold back downloads, but deposits, extra rounds and a proper invoice still go through a payment link, an invoicing app and a follow-up email.

≈ Mix Revision + an invoicing tool
With Mixrounds

Invoices next to the mix, paid with Stripe.

Invoices live on the project they bill for: numbered, emailed, and payable by card from the portal the client already uses once you connect Stripe.

The brief arrives in an email.

References, deadlines, song count and deliverables come in by email or a form, and you match them against every round of notes from memory.

Intake in the same portal as the review.

A shaped-for-audio intake form that becomes the project brief, stored next to every round of feedback.

Common questions

If you're evaluating.

Yes. Run one project through each and compare the client experience end to end before you move over. Neither tool locks you in, and your clients don't need an account on either.
